LYNKGE: Welcome Duane, where are some of the places that your music has been to?
Duane: Europe, all over the United States, Canada and places in the Caribbean that I didn’t even know existed.
LYNKGE: What is the name of your Album?
Duane:The Album is called “From August Town”, it came out at the end of 2007 and it was the best selling album for VP Records for 2008, so that was a good achievement.
LYNKGE: Who were some of the people that help to put this album together?
Duane: The album was produced by Dean Frazer and I wrote most of the tracks.
LYNKGE: What is it like being a solo artiste compared to when you were apart of a group?
Duane: Tiring (laugh), as a solo artiste you can’t afford to have a bad day, when I was in the group I could mentally or physically take a day off, It is a lot more work at the end of the day but it was what I bargained for, so that’s just how it is.
LYNKGE: What were some of the challenges you faced as a solo artiste?
Duane: Well now you have to put together a show, first I was just apart of the show, now I am the show so I have to find time to talk to the people, know how to respond, and how to choose your songs so it’s a whole different ball game and so far it as been a learning process.
LYNKGE: What is your most memorable experience so far?
Duane: I did a show last year in Dominica, and at the end of the show when I started to sing August town, I started the song three times, and I stood on the stage with the mic by my side, hands in my pocket, and the crowd sang it twice, and when I started to sing it the third time they started to sing it again trust me it was an awesome feeling.
LYNKGE:What do you look forward to for 2009?
Duane: Well putting out more music I started working on the second album right now, but I’m definitely trying to not create another august town because I’m trying to go for the process of growth, so It’s only a little bit harder than the first time but never the less it’s still music, and I don’t mind the extra hours and stuff. from that I have two music videos getting ready to come out, two singles to take me up until the completion of the album which will hopefully be by the end of May, other than that I have some shows in Grenada, Syrian and Barbados.
LYNKGE: What do you do in your spare time?
Duane: Well I’m suppose to be in the gym but for some reason I’m still in the studio
LYNKGE: Are you single?
Duane: I have a girlfriend and I try to keep it that way
LYNKGE: What are the qualities you look for in miss right?
Duane: She just needs to be fun loving, out going and intelligent those are basically the qualities anything else can go from that.
LYNKGE: Who is most likely to call you at 3:00am?
Duane: I have this one friend from Washington but the good thing about that person is he don’t call very often
LYNKGE: Have you done any collaboration with any other artistes?
Duane: Yes the last album featured Tarrus Riley, Roshell Bradshaw, Anthony B and a brethren of mine called Mystic Ropes and I just did a collaboration last night with Jah Cure for my upcoming album, so that’s going to be a hot track and we are in final stages in recording myself and Tanya Stephens, I did my part already so we’re just waiting on her to do her thing.
LYNKGE: Is there anyone you see out there that you would love to work with?
Duane: I see many out there that I would work with for many different reasons Beres Hammond would be a good person to work with, and even ‘Shane O’ he is a very talented youth and I like his vibe and he is a very conscious youth so I’m a fan of his work, but there are many out there that I’d love to work with.
LYNKGE: Do you plan to venture into any other area in the business?
Duane: Well I have plans to put together a small studio but that’s for personal purposes for me and my friends. But for right now I’m focusing on being a singer and song writer.
LYNKGE: What do you hope to achieve in the next five years?
Duane: for the most part I just want to be remembered as a great artiste.
