LYNKAGE: Hello Ishawna, could you tell us a little about yourself ?

ISHAWNA: Well I am  down to earth, funny, some who loves to laugh and have fun, music is one hundred percent in every aspect of my life, I’m a mother, I’m 22 years old, shy but when it comes to my music I’m like a tiger but I’m very shy and down to earth that’s me.

LYNKAGE:  How long have you been doing music?

ISHAWNA: I’ve been doing music in Jamaica professionally since 2008, with a single featuring me and Demarco “For You” but I’ve been doing it all my life because I recorded my first song at the age of 8 and my father has been in the music industry.

LYNKAGE: Tell us a little more about your father?

ISHAWNA: My fathers name is Don Angelo, He was a singer on the king Jammys sound back in the 80s, and I used to be in the studio with him and it’s so funny because now I’m working with Baby G and Jam 2 , and my father worked with their father which is 'Jammys' so when my father was at the studio I was there with him when I was little, and they were there as well when they were little, so they’ll be like Ishawna we have videos of you when you were little and stuff like that, and like Jammys had me in his album with my father, so because of that we have a good working chemistry.

LYNKAGE: How much of an impact does that have on your career?
ISHAWNA: Well I think I’m very blessed because people would more be protective of me  being that they know my father, like producers everybody in music they will look out for me they’ll be like “a Don Angelo daughter that enuh” in comparison to theregular female artiste out there that don’t have any guidance. There are producers that want to sleep with you, and then there are the ones that don’t take you seriously because you are a female and if they cannot get you they don’t want to have anything to do with you, so I’m very grateful because they look out for me like a little sister

LYNKAGE: Did you face any challenges coming into the industry?

ISHAWNA: Yes I did, you know as a young artiste there is always going to be challenges, like to get on the rhythms and stuff like that, it’s always a challenge because you have to prove yourself first.

LYNKAGE: How did you prove yourself?

ISHAWNA: With me I’m kind of lucky because of my father so I knew that people would give me a chance but then there are the ones that do not know me like that so with them you have to prove yourself.

LYNKAGE: What do you do in your spare time?

ISHAWNA: Well I’m not really a party animal so if I had time, it wouldn’t be like going to a party it would be sleeping or watching an nice movie, getting my hair and my nails done, and stuff like that.

LYNKAGE: What is the last book you’ve read?

ISHAWNA: Hmm is a glamour magazine considered a book because I read that yesterday (laugh). Well the last book was Selasie I life story and Malcolm x autobiography I read those at about the same time period.

LYNKAGE: So who is that person that just leaves you speech less?

ISHAWNA: Obama

LYNKAGE: Where’s your favorite place in Jamaica?

ISHAWNA: I’d say the beach.

LYNKAGE: What are three things you cannot live without?

ISHAWNA: Lip Gloss, Money, Bible.

LYNKAGE: What is it that makes your day?

ISHAWNA: My son he makes my day.

LYNKAGE: What would you blow a million Jamaican dollars on today?

ISHAWNA: Well first I like to get something nice for myself like a designer handbag or a shoes I have a shoe fetish then I’d try to invest in something so I can make back money yeah I have to at least save a little.

LYNKAGE: Who is most likely to call you at about three in the morning?

ISHAWNA: My sons father because he works at nights so three in the morning is like the day time to him, and then there is my mom who will also call me.

LYNKAGE: Who is more likely to call you from the police station?

ISHAWNA: Well I have some uncles that would send me ten calls from the police station because they are just different like that (laugh).

LYNKAGE: What are you working on right now?

ISHAWNA: So many things a lot of recordings with different producers, I’m working on a mix tape for the summer that is going to be hot, I’m doing a music video so you guys can expect that out in august, a photo shoot, and lots more.

LYNKAGE: What do wish to accomplish the next five to ten years?

ISHAWNA: I want to be at a certain level in the business where I can start putting out my own artiste from my own label and producing young artiste and stuff like that.
